Whew!__been a while since I’ve been on here, We’ve been busy in the garden!_It brings back so many memories,  of caring for, and sharing the bounty of my Grandmothers acre plus garden. Aside from the large truck patch we called it, There we’re Raspberries and  Blackberry bushes, that we picked and cooked into Jams and Jellies, also two 90 foot rows, of  Grapevines . I can still hear my uncle, scolding us kids,  from the bathroom window about eating the peas, we were suppose to be picking!

In our own Garden this year, we planted tomatoes, leeks, lettuce, peppers, potatoes, onions, basil, marjoram and my usual bounty of homegrown flowers!__Why buy, when you can grow your own, sides, it’s fun!!_ In the northeast, it’s best not to plant until may 15, due to danger of frosts. If you do plant early, like we do,  it’s wise to keep plenty of covers handy, in case of frost warnings.

As summer approaches, water is still the best to drink by far. But with taxes going up on sodas and juices drinks, why bother with those. Get a large sauce pan fill with water, add tea bags and bring to boil, remove from heat and add, to taste store brand concentrated lemon juice, and sugar! I prefer Lemonade Tea. I also make Raspberry Iced Tea for my husband. Experiment with teas, there is countless flavor of teas on the market!_-You can even grown your own mint for mint teas__ To cut down on cost, buy sugar in store brand bulk.

I’ve been an artist/ designer all my life, so I’m used to building something out of nothing!__ I needed a few good sized boulders to add to my Grand kids,  gold fish pond, I built for them a few years ago.__and no way in hell, am I paying 50 to 100 dollars for boulders___ Look around your home, folks!_ ya Got some junk ya wanna get rid of?____Figure out where you want your boulder, as  it will be difficult if not impossible to move when finished__ toss in a pile, old broken plaster, cement and rocks too small for anything else, small old paint cans, but nothing toxic._  Get a basic shape of what your looking for in a large rock or a boulder. It will help to have a picture of what your looking for handy for reference._Then when the pile is the size you want, Cover the pile of junk, with chicken wire (which incidently  is now called POULTRY FENCE)___lol__ Make sure the wire is tight and completely surrounds the pile. Dig excess dirt, out around the bottom of your make shift boulder._Then Mix up a batch of cement, get a good pair of gloves and begin to pile on the cement over the chicken wire, and cover completely. You can either use your glove covered hands to apply the cement or use a trowel__when finished,  Let Cure__When dry, You can then add acid dyes and or color your cement prior to application. Follow manufacturers instructions for cement mixing and adding dyes and colorants__when completely finished,  throw the soil you removed back along the sides of your boulder to make it appear more natural. __add flowers or grass’s___again GET CREATIVE AND EXPERIMENT. I believe someone said in the Obama Administration, “Never Let A Good Crisis Go to Waste!”  let’s take it a step further in a positive direction__ After you’ve accepted the situation for what it is, be it long term or short, you first need to decide that NO WAY in hell your going to be overcome by a hardtime!___OUR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS LIVED THROUGH THE GREAT DEPRESSION, WE ARE NO LESS TOUGH THAN THEY WERE!___ Secondly  going through difficult times,  can be a time of  growth and creativity. Oddly enough Creativity alot of time,  is born out of necessity.__sO LETS GET AT IT!!!____ For example__I ran out of Mayonnaise a month ago, while preparing chicken salad. And rather than jumping in the car ‘n’ going to the store and paying $4_5  for a medium sized jar of Mayo, I hopped in my computer chair and let my fingers do the walking on the key board!  I did an online search, for a How- To make Mayonnaise recipe .  After two tries and  splattering the hell outta the dog , the cat, my husband and myself,  I now regularly make my own mayonnaise!. Stored it in an airtight container,  it keeps for up to a week in the refrigerator!__There are plenty of ways to save money and get the creative juices flowing in hard times.__You don’t nessasarily need a lot of money!___Look around your own house! __need place mats__check in your scrap material bin. For backing use old tea or bath towels cut to size. Cut some squares to desired length,  sew them together in a patchwork fashion, then use the towels, cut to size for backing___WALA!___Another example: If ya don’t want to pay $3 for a loaf of bread, then make your own!_It takes time, but well worth it, I’ve made my own Amish bread for more then twenty years!__to save further money, buy your flour in twenty five pound bags @ around $11___There is thousand of recipes for bread on line!__I also make my own pizza dough and freeze them for later use!___Make meatloaves for main dishes and then use the leftovers for lunch meat, makes a great sandwich with your homemade mayonnaise and homemade bread!___Buy or grow in season peppers, celery and onions chop them fine, freeze each in there own bag and only use what you need at a time!__Keeps for months!___I also grow my own chives, marjoram, basil  __Try your hand at Making your own quickie spaghetti sauces or pizza sauce. Buy store brand canned tomato sauce, which is usually no more than a $1 each__make to suit your own taste__to the tomato sauce, add salt and pepper, marjoram, oregano, basil, garlic, and a scant dash of cumin__let sit for two hours , heat sauce in microwave covered dish, just til hot, and serve over spaghetti!__add a little buttered garlic to your homemade bread, toast under the broiler or on the grill, add a salad, and you’ve got a great inexpensive meal!____Make your own egg noodles!___recipes on line__I dry mine in the kitchen, over a clean rope!____  try your hand at Homemade chicken pie_take two chicken breast, cubed and fried in a little olive oil and soy sauce til done.__to the chicken,  add, a can or two of cream of chicken soup, a can or so of mixed vegetables, salt and pepper to taste, mix, then set aside___breakout a favorite double pie pastry recipe, mix up a batch, divide in half, roll out on a floured surface__place one of the pastry halves in a glass baking dish, then pour in the chicken and vegetable mixture:  add the other pastry shell on top. Use a fork to poke vent holes in top, and finally brush the top of pastry with a beaten egg.___bake at 55 min 350 degree oven__please note baking times are for my oven, please experiment with yours.__

Next week I’m trying my hand at making my own mozzarella cheese!___

The price of electric and fuel is expected to rise in 2011, don’t wait start now. Make your own candles from tallow (fat) and parafin wax and add your own scent. I have my methods to do this and do  make my own, but I’d prefer you’d look on line for a reputable candle maker for correct directions .__Buy ahead oil for oil lamps, careful with these though, prolonged use on long evenings with husbands present, may cause romantic interludes __

I’ve been looking for a wood stove for the past two years, last fall a friend of ours removed one from his home, it’s fairly new and we were given the stove. __That was a god send!___we are putting it in this year. I’ve laid brick before when we built our patio years ago. I’ve already designed what I wanted for the surround. We contacted a certified builder, another friend, thankfully, who has agreed to help put the stove in  for half of what he charges.__We keep our thermostat at 60-62, on a regular basis anyway, but if we’re cold during the winter, we wear sweatsuits at night!____There is plenty you can do to save money in hard times, your going to have to make up you mind, to cut the credit cards up and say no to extravagant spending. When times are tough there’s no whining allowed, it’s time to get down to brass tacks, get a pencil and paper write down some ideas AND GET CREATIVE!____GOD BLESS you and AMERICA___

FOR STARTERS, FOUR HOURS OF DEMOCRATIC RHETORIC, ALMOST TWO HOURS OF OBAMA TALKING POINTS AND A MINIMAL OF TWO HOURS OF REPUBLICAN’S SPEAKING, with interruptions__WE HAD MORE DEMOCRATIC MEDICAL HORROR STORIES TODAY, SUCH AS THE WOMAN WHO CHOOSE’S TO WEAR A DEAD WOMAN’S DENTURES__ THAN AGREEING ON LEGISLATION__ IT WAS OBVIOUS AFTER THE FIRST TWO HOURS, THE DEMS WERE ONLY THERE BECAUSE THEIR HAND WAS FORCED BY SCOTT BROWNS VOTE__SORRY WASHINGTON, IT WASN’T BI-PARTISAN.  IT FAILED AS A BI PARTISAN EFFORT, PRESIDENT OBAMA WAS CLEARLY DRIVING THE AGENDA__

WHEN SENATOR McCAIN SUGGESTED HE FELT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DON’T WANT THIS HEALTH CARE REFORM, OR LIKE THE SWEETHEART DEALS AND THOSE PEOPLE WHO WOULD NOT BE TAXED IF THIS HEALTH CARE BILL PASSED. PRESIDENT OBAMA THEN QUICKLY CUT SENATOR McCAIN OFF, WITH THE PRESIDENT STATING, “THE CAMPAIGNS OVER, JOHN, THAT IT’S BEEN OVER”, SENATOR McCAIN  RETORTED WITH, I’M REMINDED OF THAT EVERYDAY!” _MUCH LATE HENRY WAXMAN STATED, THAT THE REPUBLICANS ARE NOT HELPING YOU MR. PRESIDENT!”_PARDON ME BUT THE REPUBLICANS WEREN’T ALLOWED A VOICE THAT WASN’T SILENCED  UNTIL TODAY!

ALSO, HARRY REID  STATED IN FACT ” THAT HE OR THE DEMS SAID NOTHING ABOUT USING RECONCILIATION TO CRAM THROUGH THEIR HEALTH CARE BILL,_ HARRY REID THEN INDICATED THE REPUBLICANS STARTED THAT RUMOR ABOUT THE BILL THEMSELVES.”__PRESIDENT OBAMA ALSO SAYS THAT 30 MILLION PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE HEALTH CARE INSURANCE IN THE US___MY PROBLEM WITH THAT STATEMENT IS, THERE IS 300 MILLION OF US IN THE UNITED STATES ???___DOES THAT NUMBER INCLUDE, THOSE PEOPLE THAT DON’T WANT HEALTH CARE AND/OR THOSE PEOPLE WHOSE NAMES HAVE NEVER BEEN REMOVED FROM THE CENSUS AT THE TIME OF DEATH___EXAMPLE AND WHY I ASK THIS QUESTION: MY FATHER’S BEEN DEAD FOR OVER SIX YEARS, I STILL REGULARLY GET THE SOLIDARITY MAGAZINE, WITH HIS NAME ON IT__MY QUESTION IS AND I’VE ASKED IT BEFORE, DOES MY DEAD FATHER’S NAME STILL VOTE TOO?__

AT 5:56 THURSDAY, NANCY PELOSI APPARENTLY FELT REPUBLICANS DIDN’T HELP MUCH TODAY EITHER AND INSISTED WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT IT, THERE WERE NO ABORTION FUNDING IN THE DEMOCRATIC BILL” AND DID NOT WANT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO HEAR THIS AND BELIEVE THERE WAS ABORTION BEING FUNDED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

OPINION: I WAS WAITING FOR THE HOOPS AND THE DOGS TREATS!__HORROR STORIES__MY MY, WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN HEALTH CARE STORIES, DON’T WE__AND HOW WONDERFUL AND EUPHORIC IT WOULD BE TO BE ABLE TO TAKE AWAY ALL THE WORLDS ILLS__I BELIEVE WHEN YOU BEGIN TO BELIEVE YOUR GOD, THEN YOU HAVE A CULT NOT A COUNTRY. I FEEL THE ARE DEMS  STILL TRY’IN TO SELL A DEFECTIVE HEALTH CARE PRODUCT THAT NO ONE WANTS OR NEEDS.___RECALL HEALTH CARE MR. PRESIDENT. THOSE THAT DO WANT IT FEEL, THEIR ENTITLED. I FEEL THE DEMS ARE CREATING THE HEALTH CARE  HYSTERIA AND THE NEED!

ADD TORT REFORM__TO CRACK DOWN ON FRIVILOUS LAWSUITS

ALLOW PEOPLE TO BUY INSURANCE ACROSS STATE LINES__

HEALTH CARE SAVINGS ACCOUNTS

AND SEND PLANTS, DISGUISED AS PATIENTS TO PERIODICALLY CHECK ON

DOCTOR/ PATIENT/HEALTH CARE WORKERS

FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT AFFORD HEALTH CARE, THEIR IS MEDICARE, MEDICAID_I SUGGEST THESE TWO GOVERNMENT ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS BE STABILIZED, BEFORE ADDING ANOTHER ENTITLEMENT PROGRAM THAT DOESN’T WORK!

FOR THE MOST PART CONSERVATIVES ARE A BIBLE BASED GROUP. THE BIBLE FOR US AND THOSE THAT BELIEVE, IS A GUIDE, THAT TEACHES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RIGHT AND WRONG, WITHOUT IT, THERE WOULD BE CHAOS. (SUCH AS TODAY) FOR THOSE WHO CHALLENGE AND GO AGAINST THE BIBLE AND ITS BELIEFS, THE ATHEISTS AND THE ACLU IS ALIVE AND WELL.

BEING GAY IS A CHOICE. I WAS ALWAYS A REBEL OF SORTS MYSELF, BUT NEVER TO THE DEGREE OF TURNING GAY OR LESBIAN,__WE DIDN’T HAVE MUCH WHEN I WAS GROWING UP, MOM WAS SICK, DADDY WORKED THE MILL AND I PRETTY MUCH RAISED MYSELF ( SOUNDS LIKE A COUNTRY SONG TITLE DOESN’T IT?)__I LEARNED THE HARD WAY AND YEAH I TRIED TO BUCK THE SYSTEM__BUT IF YOUR GONNA BUCK THE SYSTEM, YOU’D BETTER BE READY FOR A FIGHT__SOME THINGS YOU CAN CHANGE, OTHERS YOU NEVER WILL.  MOST GOD FEARING AMERICANS DON’T BUY INTO THE FACTS STATED BY INTELLECTUALS TODAY, THAT GOD MADE A MISTAKE BY CREATING PEOPLE WHO ARE BORN GAY__C’MON, THAT’S BS__A LOT THE PEOPLE WE KNOW WHO ARE GAY ARE EXTREMELY TALENTED, INTELLIGENT PEOPLE. THEY LIKE BEING CHALLENGED AND I BELIEVE BEING GAY IS SIMPLY ANOTHER CHALLENGE TO OVERCOME. HONESTLY I FAIL TO SEE ANYTHING SEXUAL ABOUT BEING SEXUALLY ACTIVE WITH A PERSON WHO HAS THE SAME PARTS THAT I HAVE, HELL, THAT’S NO FUN!__

FOR MYSELF I WORRY ABOUT THE KIDS__WHILE MOST FOLKS REFER TO THEIR PARENTS AS MOMMY AND DADDY__HOW THE HELL CAN YOU EXPLAIN TO YOUR KIDS, THAT LITTLE SUSIE’S  MOMMY AND MOMMY ARE COMIN’ OVER FOR DINNER TONIGHT__HUH?__ AND WTF __THAT’S JUST WEIRD AND NOT AT ALL WHAT GOD INTENDED__  NOW AS FAR AS BEING A GAY CONSERVATIVE WHAT THE HELL HAS BEING GAY HAVE TO DO WITH POLITICS?__WHY DOES “GAY” HAVE BE IN FRONT OF CONSERVATIVE__I’M HETEROSEXUAL BUT I DON’T GO AROUND SAYING I’M A HETEROSEXUAL CONSERVATIVE?!? New job loss numbers as per Fox News__last week were 473,000 filed for unemployment benefit, not including those people who have merely given up looking for a job, affecting 8 million Americans__These  numbers  come, just on the heels of the Anniversary of  Obama’s  stimulus bill. While the White House insists the stimulus is working after a year, fear among Americans continues to loom.  The Obama Administration continues to turning a deaf ear on the people and forges ahead, with what THEY feel is more important than anything and that is Health Care! Three Democratic seats lost to Republicans in Democratic territories, as the anger of the American people seem to have little affect on this administration__On the horizon is a supposed bi-partisan summit, a dog and pony show is scheduled between the Democrats and the republicans__I believe it’s nothing more than a photo-op and a half-assed attempt for Obama to say  ” See We’re Trying to get along with he republicans”. Problem is, anything Obama tries, Americans aren’t buying any longer, my hope & prayer is for the Republicans not to buy into the call of the sirens either!__

The Constant barrage of the White House insisting their stimulus ‘SAVED OR CREATED THOUSANDS OR MILLIONS OF JOBS” (not sure what the current number their using, it keeps changing) When in fact the saved or created job numbers can’t be measured. The phrase saved or created jobs in the stimulus, is one of those phrases that can either be used to ones advantage or disadvantage, without having any real proof. And believe me the Dems have used this phrase so much, it’s become time to put our fingers in our ears and loudly cry La, la, la, to avoid hearing it again. The only thing the stimulus has done is prop up the banks after the run on them, the American peoples fear of government is still real and reflected in the job loss totals__taxes rise & Incentives for business to expand are crushed and at a stand still__I doubt a noose around the Democrats neck would change their path, which on one hand could be a good thing, because as 2010-2012 voting time nears, the American people, the hangmen wait in the dark.
